ACTING FOR DANCERS: HOW TO UTILIZE ACTING TOOLS FOR YOUR DANCE PRACTICE - with Luisa Muhr
Luisa has experience in teaching movement, voice work, acting and scene study, singing, improvisation, rhetoric, spoken word, audition and performance technique, on-camera-work, and ensemble skills at any level. She has conducted workshops around the world including Austria, South Africa, England, and Canada.
Her movement/dance background stretches from Movement Theater, Vocal Movement forms, Expressionist Dance (Ausdruckstanz), Laban, Gaga, Flamenco, Contact Improv, Yoga, Alexander Technique, Clown, to Corporeal Mime and many other forms. Luisa is especially inspired by vocalist/composer/dancer/movement artist Meredith Monk and her Vocal Ensemble who Luisa has had the chance to take several workshops with. Luisa has also had the great honor to have been offered by Meredith Monk to teach Monk's work in schools and communities in NYC and beyond.
Apart from private coaching Luisa has taught as a performing arts teacher and acting instructor at institutions around the world, including the Stagecoach Theatre Art School in Montreal, Canada, w@lz (Vienna Learning Center) in Vienna, Austria, Masibambane College in Johannesburg, South Africa, and at Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School in Brooklyn, New York. Luisa is also teaching German Through Singing and Movement at the German School at the United Nations International School (UNIS) in NYC, a program she designed herself.
Luisa founded her Theater and Performing Arts Company FENGARI Works together with her late artistic partner James Leaf in June 2015.
