Luisa Muhr's WASSER WORKS at The Stone - October 2, 8:30pm

Luisa Muhr co-founder and co-artistic director of FENGARI Ensemble is honored to perform WASSER WORKS at the original Stone (run by composer John Zorn) before it will move to its new home at the New School. 

 

WASSER WORKS is a newly created first piece and music-improvisation-exploration dedicated to Austrian artist/architect/activist Friedensreich Hundertwasser with some of Luisa's own texts, focusing on the element of Water and its many different qualities. Dealing with the question: What is Water before we try to change it?​

 

Join us for this unique and magical collaboration of Luisa, drummer/percussionist Richie Barshay and vibraphonist/marimbist Patricia Brennan. You don't want to miss this, so mark it down in your calendars!

FENGARI Ensemble and Friends of the Buffalo Story Co-Production; Steve Bellwood, playwright; Mark Goldman, prod.; Luisa Muhr, associate prod./casting; James Leaf, dir.

 

Casting Albright, a play based on the life of John J. Albright, a businessman, philanthropist, and a leading in the American Industrial Revolution, his young wife Susan Albright, and Mark Twain's youngest daughter Jean Clemens. The play explores not only personal struggles of each character and their complex relationships, but also the struggles of socialism vs. capitalism, early feminism vs. patriarchy and the meaning of art in a predominantly business environment. 

 

Performance Date: June 3 at the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY (with possibility of remount in New York City)

Rehearsal schedule: First week of April 2017- day of show (June 3)

All rehearsals will take place in New York City. We will leave the day before the performance to Buffalo, NY.

  • Role Description: John Albright is a businessman, philanthropist and one of Buffalo's leading socialites at the turn of the 20th century. He is a leading figure in the American Industrial Revolution. Seeking strong lead actor to play/look mid-late 50s. Strong voice and ability to move freely and easily is a requirement. Musicality is a plus but not required.

 

Jean Clemens

  • Role Type: Lead

  • Gender: Female

  • Age Range: 18-26

  • Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

  • Media required from applicants: Headshot/Photo

  • Role Description: Jean Clemens is the youngest daughter of famous writer Samuel Langhorne Clemens alias 'Mark Twain'. She suffers from epilepsy. Seeking strong lead actress to look/play 19. Strong voice and ability to move freely and easily is a requirement. Musicality is a plus but not required.


For audition: Audition will take place in Midtown Manhattan (exact place T.B.A.). Bring copy of headshot/resume. Prepare a two minute contemporary and two minute classical monologue. ONLY PICK SOMETHING YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE AND CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE! Sides will be provided if casting director would like to see more. Strong voice and ability to move freely and easily is a requirement. Musicality is a plus but not required.

Professional actors - that is actors with plenty of performance experience - ONLY, equity or non-equity.

New Project: The Wedding of the Waters in Buffalo, NY - Opening August 1st, 2016

We are happy to announce a new project we are currently working on: The Wedding of the Waters in Buffalo, NY.

"The Wedding of the Waters tells the story of the construction and completion of the Erie Canal in a totally contemporary vernacular. Performed by local actors, dancers, and musicians, this production will excite audiences about the history of Buffalo and stimulate them to learn more. Performed outside, overlooking the recently reconstructed canals at Canalside, The Wedding of the Waters tells the iconic Erie Canal story in ways that have never before been imagined or conceived. Wanna get your minds blown by Buffalo history? Come see The Wedding of the Waters on five Monday nights in August, with a performance consisting of dance, spoken word and a wide range of musical styles. The Wedding of the Waters features a cast of local artists, including Stonehorse Lone Goeman, the 12-8 Path Band, and Aurora Borealis. Produced by Mark Goldman and directed by James Leaf and Luisa Muhr from FENGARI Ensemble this show is going to be an exciting adventure. Come and join us!

The focus of the Intensive is to explore the relationship between dance and acting and by doing so helping to build a new vocabulary and a fresh and deeper approach to dance.
